The Fire Show ~ Here Lies The Fire Show: Recordings 2000 - 2002

sentient meat What a box set. Both these albums are exceptional, although my slight preference is for The Fire Show. The LP with the live tracks shines a new light on the creativity and technical prowess of this band. So many incredible tracks spread over this set that it's near impossible to pick a favourite, but the one that keeps repeating in my head is Conception Blues. Other contenders are The Antipathetic, Explosion: Cerebellum, and Magellan Was A Felon. Just pick this up, you won't be disappointed. Favorite track: Conception Blues.

Holy fucking shit. The box set is amazing! The live tracks are whooping my ass in the best way possible. Thank you boys again for putting this together!!!

  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Twenty years after the band's dissolution The Fire Show is finally available on vinyl. This 3-LP set collects the band's two proper albums: their 2000 self-titled debut and 2002's Saint The Fire Show (Pitchfork: 7.9 and 8.7 respectively), plus an LP of live performances featuring the four-man band and the live-looping two-man band. The 180g colored vinyl - one red, one white, one black - comes in a beautiful Folkways-style jacket with a pair of inserts.

"The Fire Show demonstrate all the attributes of their two and a half albums: the ambition and the brilliance, the poetry and the deeply, almost desperately felt politics, the fireworks and the bomb-dropping. Stark, dubbish funk with punk penknife and splatter; left-wing epics constructed from right angles, made by (sm)art school punks interested in the feet and the brain, the ground and the lofty heavens."
    (Jay Babcock, L.A. Weekly)

"A dark, unpredictable maelstrom of ideas, emotion and haywire technology, at times disquietingly calm and at others in danger of running completely off the rails... [a] masterpiece."
    (Joe Tangari, Pitchfork)

"Too difficult and prickly to be absorbed and spit out by any
trend, The Fire Show's legacy is destined to be discovered in its ashes by future artists, it's spirit an inspiration for continued creativity and
    artistic bravery rather than mimicry."
    (Tony Dorston, Fast n' Bulbous)

"Titanic grooves punctured sparingly but meaningfully by bursts of angular guitar and coruscating electronics... The rhythmic patterns are wonderfully convoluted, hinting that the songs might implode at any given moment."
    (Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader)
